WHY BE GRATEFUL, ANYWAY? The Institute for Research on Unlimited Love, founded in 2001, tested and measured the effects of love and other positive caring emotions in human life and concluded that: 1.) Focusing on things you're grateful for significantly increases the body's natural antibodies. 2.) People who are habitually grateful exibit sharper mental focus and are less vulnerable to clinical depression. 3.) A grateful state of mind induces physiological resonance, associated with healthier blood pressure and heart rate. The Attitude of Gratitude Is important – and amazingly Effective! You may have read Wallace Wattles book, The Science of Getting Rich. Yes, of course, I recommend it. The truths therein are useful in revising our thinking in order to begin to experience miracles. One of Wattles' points - also echoed with clarity by James Ray in his Science of Success CD program (see the “We’re Learning” page) is the importance of Gratitude.
The concept of relativity applies, i.e. each of us lives in our personal subjective world. "Objective Reality" seems to exists, but the truth is that while we all may agree that there is a green car in the yard, even agree as to make, model and year; every one of us has a different perspective of it. In actuality, everything we percieve only has the attributes we percieve it to have based on comparison to something else. The "Law of Relativity" means our experience is SUBjective. The per capita income of Bangladesh in 2006 was US $2300. Do you make more than that? Are you Grateful? A huge percentage of the world’s population is illiterate. Can you read? A portion of the world’s population is blind, deaf.. and otherwise less than physically whole. Can you see? Can you hear? Can you walk? Is there anything you have that others don’t? Is there anything you can do that others can’t? Have you – in actuality - been blessed with ANYTHING for which to be grateful?
Of course. But what do most people focus on?
Unfortunately the overwhelming majority of us spend many of our waking hours on auto-pilot and often giving our attention to the things we don't want and things we lack… and since what we focus on expands, by the Law of Attraction, we get more of ..lack.
As Andy Andrews says (and I am grateful for), “ I am NOT Most People!” (Thankfully, neither are you!).
The wonderful truth about the attitude of gratitude is: The more you are the more you become… The better it gets, the better it gets… in a phrase: Gratitude Works!
So – Here’s the exercise – Make yourself a sign and put it where you’ll see it in the morning when you wake up – with this question: What do I have to be grateful for today?
Then answer it when you wake up every morning for three weeks. (and yes, you may expect miraculous results).
